Illusion of Gaia - This game gets melancholy and somber. Despite it being, at some points, simplistic, cheesy, linear, clichéd, and predictable it’s also those things that somehow add to it’s charm. Unlike it’s peers in FF4, FF6, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana (those all in my opinion carry hefty distinctions of being the best of the best) IoG does not take itself too seriously or strain to tell the most complicated and involved, plot-twisted and onion-layered story it possibly can.
The music, the characters, the story, the secrets that ARE revealed; every time, they engage me.
